請為我唱一首出塞曲
用那遺忘了的古老言語
請用美麗的顫音輕輕呼喚
我心中的大好河山
“Going Toward the Northern Territory" ～
Please sing this Song for me,
Using that forgotten old language.
Please use beautiful vibratos, gently calling
The magnificent rivers and mountains in my heart.

只有那長城外才有的景象
誰說出塞曲的調子太悲涼
如果你不愛聽
那是因為
歌中沒有你的渴望
The scene can only appear outside the Great Wall.
Who could say the melody of this Song is too sad for us?
If you don’t like to listen,
That is because
In the song, there is nothing you are longing for!

而我們總是要一唱再唱
(因為歌聲中有我們的盼望@)
像那草原千里閃著金光
像那風沙呼嘯過大漠
像那黃河岸 陰山旁
英雄騎馬壯
騎馬榮歸故鄉

William Shaw (Hsing Ying 星熒 ) completed the English translation of《出塞曲 The Song of Going Toward the Northern Territory》, original in Chinese by Xi Murong 席慕蓉, on September 22, 2019 in La Jolla, California.

下面是蔡琴唱的《出塞曲》，她唱的這首歌中有幾句歌詞，為了配合曲調而改了席慕蓉的原著句子，增加了一些不必要的字句，就像我英譯時也增加了圓括號內的字句一樣，我認為還是 席慕蓉 的原著好！我的英譯文就沒有像她的原文那樣「簡而美」，她的中文原文更像一首「好詩」！ 蔡琴-演唱的《出塞曲》
