從前
情感的泉流急湧地
沖刷著難忘的回憶

Earlier,
A spring current of emotion emerging urgently
Pounded the unforgettable memories.

牽引出往事 一簍一筐
細節雖模糊 情境似清晰

It pushed out the past events in bundles -- piece by piece.
Their details were vague, while scenes seemed clear.

穿梭在思潮裏
我不停地翻閱著
記載中猶新的過去

Going back and forth in the flood of thoughts,
Turning page by page continuously,
I read the newly recorded past.

現在
情感的泉流緩緩地
洗滌著塵封的記憶
清理現往事 一絲一縷
細節已不見 情境更依稀

Now,
The spring current of emotion, flowing slowly,
Washes the long-time sealed up memories.
It cleans out past events in slices -- bit by bit.
The details do not reappear, while scenes are faintly visible.

沉浸在深思裏
我細心地尋找著
記載中久遠的過去

Immersed in deep thoughts,
Looking carefully for each word,
I search through the distantly recorded past.

今晚
暗淡的黃昏又送走
一個悠悠的白晝

This evening,
The dim dusk again gives away
Another bright period of a long day.

在僅有的歲月裏
但願我 能用 凋殘的詩篇
將昔日 年少 綺麗的幻夢
再一次 重新 編織在一起

In the limited years ahead,
I hope I will be able to use these poems, their withered words and broken lines,
To edit the beautiful fantasies of the young days,
And to weave them together once again, into a new and colorful dream!

星熒(邵維廉)1953 年 7月 16日 初稿 僅七行寫于 台灣左營海軍官校。2007年10月 17日修訂重寫于 美國 加州 La Jolla。著者在2007年10月21日將其譯成英文。

Hsing-Ying (William Shaw (邵維廉) wrote the initial version of the poem, only 7 lines, “Recall憶”, in Chinese on July 16, 1953 at the Naval Academy in Tsoying, Taiwan. More than fifty-four years later, the author revised and rewrote it in Chinese on October 17, 2007 in La Jolla, California, USA.
