回憶的符號 Symbol of Memory

（紀念畢業半世紀後的44年班）
(To mark the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the Class of 1955)

一提起「44」年班，就引我進入了回憶
回憶 理想、奮鬥、青春
「44」如今已變成回憶的符號
Whenever the “Class of 1955” is mentioned, it brings forth my memory
Involving youth, its ideal and the efforts to reach it.
Now, “1955” has turned into a symbol of memory.

在回憶歷史的滄桑中
我們會找到，更多的自豪與驕傲
不是嗎？ 「44」是 在校時團隊的符號
有活力、有理想、氣質深藏
In memory of many turbulent historical changes,
We will find our dignity and pride even more than the adversities imposed on us.
Right ? “1955” has been a team symbol since the Academy days;
It represents our vigor and ideal with in-depth quality.

今日更證實了
我們是中華民族 最苦難時代的菁英
對風雨飄搖的土地 我們奉獻了青春
我們是堅忍不拔 力爭上游的一群
為理想、為生活，我們辛勤奮鬥、奔波一生
Today, it has been proved that
We are an elite group in the time of great tribulation of the Chinese race,
Giving our youth to the land, swaying in the mist of the raging storm.
We are the unflinching group striving for the best,
Working hard to live our entire lives for our ideal.

在海校的校史上
「44」這符號將燦爛輝煌
In the history of the Academy,
The symbol “1955” will shine gloriously for all time.

我們每個人過去各自曾有過的失落與瑕疵
永掩不住今日我們共同擁有的自豪與驕傲！
「44」，伴我一生
一個永遠回憶的符號！
The failures and flaws of each one of us in the past
Can never cover up the success and pride we are sharing today.
“1955” will accompany me through my entire lifetime,
A symbol of forever memory!

星熒(邵維廉) 2008 年7 月 31 日修訂改寫于美國 加州La Jolla。 這首詩「回憶的符號」是從2005年2 月 12 日序文初稿中的一段文字改寫而來。著者在2008年8月7日將其譯成英文。
Hsing-Ying (William Shaw 邵維廉) rewrote this poem “Symbol of Memory” in Chinese ”回憶的符號” on July 31, 2008 in La Jolla, California, USA. It was revised from one paragraph of the preface draft of February 12, 2005. This is the literal translation by the author on August 7, 2008.
